Head Nurse is one who is the Lead of nursing staff and is in-charge of the department. The Role will enhance professional growth in the practice of nursing profession and provide high standards of patient care in a diverse environment with respect for opinions, judgments, abilities and culture difference of others.
• Responsible for providing pre and post-operative patient care in verity of inpatient and outpatient settings and all staff and cases in ICU &OR units
• Develop, maintains and implement nursing policies and procedures that confirm the current standards of the department
• Communicates and interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff
• Directly supervise and evaluate performance of all nursing staff of the ward or clinical area, providing counseling and disciplinary action as needed
• Responsible for driving established nursing processes including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, medication, orders and treatments
• Assist the physicians in performing special procedures
• Under the direction and guidance of Medical Director, closely monitor all surgical cases under his or her care
• Assists in emergency nursing procedures necessary for prompt control of changes in patient’s physical condition
• Able to perform the techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) accurately and effectively
• Adhere to standard precautions once dealing the patients and demonstrate comprehensive ongoing general hygienic care to the patient
• Responsible for managing all the assigned administrative activities of the concerned department
• Responsible for designing, scheduling or rescheduling the shifts for nurses and assign them tasks
• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records of patients
• Responsible for collecting work reports from all the nurses regarding their day to day activities and maintain record of them
• Responsible for reviewing and supervising the pre-operative settings made by the nurses in the Operating Room and make sure required equipment’s properly available at the time of operation
• Direct and coordinate in infection control programs, prepare patients for test, therapy or treatments
• Performs evaluation of new and existing patients to determine the priority and suitability of treatment and/or need for medications
• Investigate and take advantage of opportunities to streamline the process care while maintaining quality and safety
