Basic Functions:
The Engineering and programs director reports directly to the CEO and is responsible to lead, train, and Engineering, Programs, QC, and the Process Method Engineering (PME) team comprised of Saudi and Western personnel in all aspects of aero-propulsion in engineering, configuration control, On-condition Maintenance (OCM) activities, operational planning, work order generation, and operational support for the depot repair and overhaul of F100, PT6, RB199, T56, EJ200 engines and modules for the Royal Saudi Air Force and other customers and engines/modules under contract with MEPC.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible to drive both the strategy and tactical execution of the engineering which directly influences the quality of our overhauled module and associated processes
• Manage, coordinate, and interface with the OEM related issues including; Production Support, Hardware Repair by the OEM, Material Management, Mishap Investigations, Documentation, ITAR and Proprietary documentation and requirement
• Lead the MRB activities
• Lead the OCM activity, document and execute the necessary Work Order (WO) requirements IAW the OCM board final disposition for the module induction
• Manage and maintain the Production Bill of Material (PBOM) and Kit Lists for various product lines.
• Manage and support pricing and configuration updates in support of annual contract review.
• Provides overall leadership and management direction to the company’s engineering and PME organizations
o Manage all engineering activities and resources to ensure that overhaul processes, equipment, materials, technical data, and technical expertise are available, reliable, cost effective, and validated
o Drives behavior that exhibits the highest business integrity
o Design and plan component repairs, tooling, and materials
o Directs the adaptation of machines and equipment to production conditions
o Plan sequence of operations and specifications for the repair of parts
o Partner with Business Unit Managers to ensure engineering support of production needs and on-time delivery
• Maintain Technical Library and Engine Management And Tracking System (EMATS) and other Engine tracking system as required
• Responsible for repair decisions and establishing repair requirements
• Establishes the repair-vs-new parts mix for each module overhauled which directly balances the module ROS and the delivery schedule
• Lead process improvement initiatives and conduct investigations including root cause analysis
o Drive the engineering team to continuous improvement metrics
o Utilize processes to drive identification of critical system issues
• Foster a quality culture and lead initiatives to eliminate escapes and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
• Champion cost reduction and productivity initiatives. Meet or exceed all financial requirements and operational goals for the department
• Key participant in the projected growth of the company by helping the selection of additional product lines under consideration including: F100-PW-229, PT6, T56, RB199, EJ200 and other engines and modules
• Participate in and foster continuous improvement through MEPC ACE initiatives and maintain
ISO 9001-2000 Registration and USAF/RSAF/PW/PWC/MTU/Eurojet/Rolls-Royce/ Depot Qualification. Actively support and participate in the scheduled QMRM activities
• Drives Safety as a number one priority, participates in EH&S meetings, and is a liaison between the company’s EH&S representative and other business Units
• Selects, trains, and provides ongoing mentorship to engineers, Configuration Control, and the Process and Method Engineers
o Improves overall employee engagement by focusing on communication, training, management practices, and employee respect
