Job Description:
• Provides technical assistance with the design, installation, operation, service, maintenance and security of a variety of information security systems.
• Responsible for providing security guidance and support to the technical administrators in the implementation / compliance of policies and procedures according to security standards.
• Handles the technical work necessary to perform security operations on systems such as Firewalls, IPS, VPN, VA, Endpoint protection etc.
• Develop, enhance and enforce information security policies, procedures and processes so that information is appropriately protected from a wide variety of problems including confidentiality, integrity and availability.
• Interpret information security policies, standards and other requirements as they relate to a specific internal information system, and assist with the implementation of these and other information security requirements.
• Provides technical information security direction to employees who are responsible for one or more information security systems; including Network Administrators, systems Administrator and database administrators.
• Asses application security via code review and analysis, I/O validation and assist development team with secure coding practices.
• Manage the complete life cycle of risk management.
• Maintain and operate the systems via support information security including but not limited to endpoint protection (antivirus, antispyware, host IPS, host application control), Firewall access policies, NAT, URL and data filtering, secure web and email gateway, intrusion prevention systems, Authentication and Authorization (Active Directory).
• Periodically run vulnerability management tools to highlight vulnerabilities in systems configuration, and the need for software updates, patches, and other security related changes.
• Serve as an active member of the computer incident response team (CIRT) and participates in security incident response efforts by having an in-depth knowledge of common security exploits, vulnerabilities and countermeasures.
• Evaluates information system bug reports, security exploit reports, and other information security notices issues by information system vendors, government agencies, Universities professional associations, and other organizations and as needed, provides technical direction to protect against reported exploits.
