The Senior Cisco Network Engineer- CCIE is responsible for developing and integrating all network communication requirements for the LAN/WAN. This includes (but is not limited to) routers, switches, hubs, VPN servers, Wireless Access and Remote Access servers and networking components along with all software required to configure, operate and manage these devices and the network as a whole. The Senior Cisco Network Engineer- CCIE will design, build and support data networks comprised of Cisco core and edge devices. The Senior Cisco Network Engineer- CCIE provides support for all infrastructure issues related to the network.
The Senior Cisco Network Engineer- CCIE serves as project lead for network infrastructure projects, ensuring that these projects are delivered on time and meet quality expectations. Pre- and Post-sales support of account managers and sales engineers are included responsibilities. The Senior Cisco Network Engineer- CCIE also supports the Field Engineering teams by being the 3rd engineer to handle all network trouble calls and is the final tier before the call is handed to the ISP or manufacturer.
The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and propose new technology and infrastructure solutions to customers in a business-like manner. The candidate will be required to work in a fast paced environment that requires team interaction and coordination of efforts. The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with new customer stake holders and must be comfortable developing a strong working relationship with all existing customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Network Service Work involves the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and/or management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats. Functions commonly performed by employees in this specialty may include:
- leading an enterprise-level network project, such as establishing connectivity for new mission requirements or new customer organizations or accommodating changes in legislation; and
- carrying out the full range of project management functions from project planning through evaluation and reporting of project accomplishments
- projects typically involve coordinating the work of other network specialists, technical specialists from other disciplines, and customer representatives
- leading feasibility studies of new network technologies, such as integrating video with data and voice services;
- recommending investments in new networking technologies to senior agency management where warranted; and
- providing consultation during the planning and implementation of successfully tested new technologies
- analyzing and defining network requirements;
- defining and maintaining network architecture and infrastructure;
- configuring and optimizing network servers, hubs, routers, and switches;
- analyzing network workload;
- monitoring network capacity and performance;
- diagnosing and resolving network problems;
- developing network backup and recovery procedures;
- installing, testing, maintaining, and upgrading network operating systems software; and/or
- ensuring the rigorous application of information security/ information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services
- test, install, configure, and maintain networks including hardware (servers, hubs, bridges, switches, and routers) and software that permit the sharing and transmission of information
