Consultant help organizations to solve issues, create value, maximize growth and improve the performance of their clients.
They use their skills to provide objective advice, expertise and specialist skills which the organization may be lacking.
Consultant are primarily concerned with the strategy, structure, management, business and operations of an organization.
They will identify options for the organization and suggest recommendations for change, as well as helping with additional resources to implement solutions.
Consultants operate across a wide variety of services such as business, strategy, marketing, financial and management controls, human resources, information technology, e-business and operations, and supply-chain management.
A Consultant may research, analyze, forecast, develop strategies, prepare reports and perform many other related activities.
The post holder will be working in a developing environment and he/she will therefore be expected to undertake other appropriate duties as required for the effective operation of the organization.
Typical work activities
The day-to-day activities of Consultant are often complex and varied. Projects can vary in length depending on the type and the demands of the client. They can involve an individual or a large team and may be based in one location or across various sites.
A Consultant is to perform all or any of the following tasks:
• Develop and prepare feasibility Study, business proposals and presentations.
• Carrying out research and data collection
• Understand the organization.
• Conducting analysis.
• Interviewing client's employees, management team and other stakeholders.
• Running focus groups and facilitating workshops.
• Preparing business proposals/presentations.
• Perform in-depth analysis.
• Meeting and advising client.
• Develop and assist clients with the business planning.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability communicate business issues.
• Tracks business status by monitoring variances from plan.
• Provide information by assembling and summarizing data.
• Preparing reports
• Making Presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations.
• Business analysis provide in depth understanding of business units, sales team and key customer profitability.
• Create recommendations promote efficiency, cost effective procedures, and improved profitability.
• Propose and implement solutions.
• Client confidentiality
• Need to demonstrate that they can apply theoretical knowledge on relevant aspects in practice.
• Software Skills (especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Interviewing client's employees, management team and other stakeholders.
• Running focus groups and facilitating workshops.
• Identifying issues and forming hypotheses and solutions.
• Presenting findings and recommendations clients.
• Implementing recommendations/solutions and ensuring the client receives the necessary assistance carry it all out.
• Liaising with the client keep them informed of progress and make relevant decisions
