Job Description
SUMMARY
Achieves maximum sales profitability, growth and account penetration within an assigned territory and/or market segment by effectively selling the company’s products and/or related services. Personally contacts and secures new business accounts/customers.
CORE JOB DUTIES:
1. Promotes/sells/secures orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
2. Demonstrates products and services to existing and potential customers and assists them in selecting those best suited to their needs.
DETAILS OF JOB DUTIES:
1. Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business for the organization’s products/services.
2. Makes telephone calls and in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers.
3. Researches sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine their potential.
4. Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers.
5. Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call & visits reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
6. Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
7. Coordinates sales effort with marketing, sales management, accounting, logistics and technical service
groups.
8. Analyzes the territory/market’s potential and determines the value of existing and prospective customers
value to the organization.
9. Creates and manages a customer value plan for existing customers highlighting profile, share and value
opportunities.
10. Plans and organizes personal sales strategy by maximizing the Return on Time Investment for the
territory/segment.
11. Coordinate company staff to accomplish the work required to close sales.
12. Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, and potential for new products and services.
13. Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, and delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc., and supplies management with written report of collected information’s.
14. Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
15. Keeps abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities,
advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with marketing
and technical service areas.
16. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Participate in marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, and telemarketing events.
2. Follow-up for collection of payment.
3. Follow-up shipping schedules and delivery of merchandise and services.
4. Provide on-the-job training to new sales employees.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires significant local travel and may require occasional overnight travel and weekend and/or evening work.
