1) Takes a history and perform a physical examination on all the newly admitted patients under supervision of his senior doctors.
2) Makes daily ward rounds, usually in conjunction with and at a mutually convenient time for the team registrar or consultant. This includes writing daily progress notes and appropriate orders, organizing and following up on investigations.
3) Carries out the clinical and other duties allocated to him/her by the Consultant in charge.
4) Takes on call duty according to Rota
5) Writes fluid orders, starting IV’s and drawing blood as necessary.
6) Should attend the outpatient clinics of the consultants on their team.
7) Takes referral calls from other department including the Emergency, under the close supervision of the Registrar on duty.
8) At discharge a summary should be completed and sent to the referring consultant and all other consultants involved in the patient’s care.
9) Must attend all regular clinical teaching sessions and may be called on to present patients or review papers.
10) Observes and upholds the patients' rights of security, confidentiality and privacy.
11) Participation in the educational activities of the training program and, as appropriate, assumption of responsibility for teaching and supervising other residents and students.
12) To carry out any other assignments within the realm of his knowledge, skills and abilities.
