General Activities
Provide input to plans and strategies for a business unit, department, or project to satisfy internal client. Make recommendations or provide input to the determination of financial goals of a business unit or department. Identify ways to reduce costs.
Take action to reduce costs that are focused on creating greater efficiencies, economies of scale or better quality resources for a project team, department, or business unit. Coordinate work efforts of others to ensure integration and completion of work against expectations.
Determine priorities for one's area of accountability to create clarity about focus and enable work to be completed efficiently. Ensure priorities are handled effectively by modifying plans and actions in your own area of accountability.
Manage a project against a plan and objectives to ensure commitments are met by monitoring, assessing, and resolving variances in budget, timing or quality of work.
Responsible for all elements of commodity management, including strategic understanding of the supply market place, pricing and term negotiations, preparation and analysis of Global/Regional bid proposals/packages, supplier selection, negotiation and communication with users across plants and Business Units. Provides expertise regarding commercial, technology and market/trends so as to advise and generate cost savings and value to bottom line.
Function Specific Activities
Influence suppliers’ manufacturing processes, technology decisions and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations. Renegotiate, renew and discontinue supplier contracts.
Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and exploit emerging opportunities. Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models.
Review and approve a comprehensive list of suppliers for bid processes developed by analyzing the industry to understand trends and competitive positioning in order to ensure system activation of the best possible supply base.
Develop a negotiation strategy that delivers against business objectives and achieves sustainable relationships with suppliers. Implement supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions.
Provide function expertise to Operations peers to build network participation and expertise. Leads the development, implementation and communication of sourcing strategies
Interfaces with global strategic suppliers to solve problems involving pricing, supplier performance, or any other matters that may arise. Manages contracting, tactical transactional activity across multiple sites/plants in accordance with approved processes&policies.
Identifies metrics, tools, processes to optimize sourcing and supplier activities and efficiencies and work collaboratively with Operations, Planning and Procurement team members to prioritize and drive implementation. Manages global, executive-level business relationships within BU's and with key suppliers. Provides insight and practices from outside of the company to stretch internal thinking / practices. Responsible for delivering and tracking quantifiable financial benefits and value creation proportionate to the company spend.
Develops and maintains global and regional contracts that are commercially sound and provide optimum protection of company assets. Exhibits subject matter expertise regarding commercial and technology trends so as to advise internal users on current and future market capabilities.
Provides cost forecast information to Procurement and BU stakeholders. Works with Leadership to identify, scope, validate and then execute special projects that will result in measurable value to the company.
