Reports to : Chief of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine Department
Responsible for : Division designation by Chief of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine
Liaisons with : Medical Staff, technical staff, secretarial service and patients
Job Summary:
Practices Diagnostic Radiology under the direction of the Chief of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine Department, with due regards to the policies and procedures of the Department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Performs general and specialized radiologic procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and imitative prescribing ionizing radiation.
-Administers contrast media to patients requiring same in dynamic investigations of the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract and other examinations to demonstrate the anatomy, physiology and pathology of the area.
-Undertakes special procedures such as arteriography and Interventional Radiology.
-It is responsibility of a Consultant to supervise the Resident and Registrar radiological cases and reports during working hours or as a second on-call.
-Assists in patient emergencies following reactions to contrast media.
-Practices sterile techniques where applicable and observes all infection control methods as stipulated in the Infection Control manual.
-Cooperates with all personnel in maintaining the professional conduct of the Department and maintains correct ethical relationships.
-It is responsibility of Consultant Radiologist to discuss and give opinion for medical staff consultations in consultations from other medical staff.
-It is responsibility of Consultant Radiologist to carry out final decision in complicated cases.
-Takes part in teaching and training Radiology trainees and residents from other medical departments.
-Comply with the standards laid down by the Approved International Accreditation Standards.
-Through the chain of command and/or occurrence variance report, identifies any occurrence not consistent with the operation of the Hospital or standard of service for patients, employees or visitors and situations that put patients, staff or visitors at risk for injury or other harm.
-Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
-Education and Licensure:
-Graduated from a Medical School recognized by The Saudi Council for Health Specialties.
-Valid Registration in Saudi Council for Health Specialties as Consultant Radiologist.
-Certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the Saudi Board, American Board of Radiology, Canadian Board, the College of Radiology of the United Kingdom or German FACHARTZ or other equivalent recognized board certificate.
-The residency training shall be conducted in the awarding board country (. FRCR training in UK).
-Preferably have subspecialty fellowship from internationally recognized hospitals.
-Professional Experience:
-For non-Saudi applicants: six (6) years of experience after obtaining the Fellowship.
-For Saudi applicants: three (3) years of experience after obtaining the Fellowship.
-Wide experience in radiological modules.
-Specialized Knowledge:
-Working knowledge of English is essential; knowledge of spoken Arabic is desirable but not essential.
-Background of good physical and mental well-being.
