Database Administrator

• Map out the conceptual design for planned databases and refine the logical design and translate it into a specific data model.

• Implement and enforce security for all of the Oracle Databases and manage users, roles, and grants.

• Perform database re-organization as required to enhance overall performance and ensure maximum uptime and availability of the database.

• Administer all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures.

• Put standards in place to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance and perform reviews on the design and code frequently to ensure the house standards are being adhered to.

• Assist with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects.

• Perform the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases.

• Apply and recommend database and platform patches and coordinate security fix management and version control including testing and functionality assessment.

• Evaluate releases of Oracle and its tools, and third party products to ensure that the site is running the products that are most appropriate. Planning is also performed with the Software Developers and System Administrators, to ensure that any new product usage or release upgrade takes place with minimal impact.

• Provide 24/7 support for critical situations.

• Establish and maintain backup and recovery strategies, tests and policies along with procedures to recover and restore corrupt databases.

• Provide technical expertise during the installation, setup, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, resolving and management of database servers, clustering and replication infrastructure in both simulation and production environments.

• Collaborate with Application/Database developers, Quality Assurance and Systems/Support staff in a fast paced environment to provide information and reports as needed.

• Able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

• Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle.

• Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle RDBMS and related products.

• Liaise with Oracle Corporation for technical support.

• Good understanding of the Oracle database, related utilities and tools and all Oracle backup and recovery scenarios.
