• Documents, communicates and discusses all pending, problematic, and unresolved open cases with the assigned supervisor in a timely manner to ensure prompt resolution to hardware, software, network, and systems infrastructure.
• Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.
• Performs scheduled backups, archiving, and purging operations, ensuring all required infrastructure systems and system data are successfully backed.
• Maintains operational, configuration, and other department’s standard procedures and systems.
• Develops, updates, and maintains technical documentation and knowledge base databases of the organization’s trends and source of problem(s) and recommending/initiating corrective actions.
• Works with hardware and software vendors to diagnose and resolve software and hardware problems, bugs, and failures including documentation.
• Install/rebuild servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
• Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained and works with vendors to assist support activities.
• Perform daily infrastructure and systems monitoring, verify integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, validate system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs.
• Perform regular security monitoring and identify possible intrusions or unauthorized access, suggest and implement corrective actions.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and systems’ data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
• Create, modify, delete, maintain and document user accounts and security access matrices and procedures.
• Provide support to team members and server applications’ owners as needed and investigate and troubleshoot infrastructure and systems issues.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, upgrade administrative tools and utilities and configure/add new services as necessary.
• Administer, maintain, troubleshoot and fine-tune VDI server infrastructure, systems and servers’ dependencies.
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, firmware updates and resource optimization as required.
• Maintain datacenter access control and environmental monitoring equipment, availability and reporting.
• Responsible for configuring/managing utilities like ssh, sudo, dns(bind), ftp, ldap, syslog, snmp, smtp (postfix) etc.
• Responsible for installation, configuration, support and management of Microsoft and Linux server operating systems.
• Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
• Design, implement and manage ESX hosts, clusters and vSwitches.
• Back up VMware environment using VMware SRM, VMware Data Recovery, and other VMware specific tools.
