Registered Nurse - Bilingual
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Accountable to: Head Nurse and Assistant Director of Nursing
Report to : Head Nurse/designee
Liaises with : Medical and nursing staff, hospital support services, patients and visitors.
ACCOUNTABILITY/OBJECTIVES
Under the direction of the Head Nurse, assumes responsibility for providing quality care to patients according to established Policy, Procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice. Participates in Nursing Administration, Education, and Quality improvement activities in support of the Hospital’s Mission and the development of Nursing Services. Supports the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Nursing and contributes to educational efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Coordination of Patient Care on the unit:
Maintains high standards of patient care on the unit on a twenty-four hour basis.
a. Provides direct care to patients and families on a twenty-four hour basis, utilizing established Standards of Nursing Practice.
b. Implements the policies and procedures of the nursing service and other hospital departments when giving care to patients.
c. Ensures that patient privacy and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
i. Keeps the Head Nurse, and in his /her absence the Assistant Director of Nursing, informed about patient care problems and other issues.
j. Uses patient care needs, nursing staff capabilities and qualifications as a guide when allocating assignments to other health team members.
k. Participates in patient and family education and discharge planning.
Coordination of Health Team Members on the Unit:
Provides clinical guidance to other health team members to maintain standards of professional care to patients, families and visitors.
a. Acts for the Head Nurse in his/her absence.
b. Counsels other members of the health care team as appropriate.
c. Assigns, directs and supervises other health team members.
d. Assists other health team member to implement the hospital policies and procedures.
e. Follows correct communication channels established by the department.
f. Rotates to other areas of the Nursing Service when requested.
g. Readily participates in change or innovations on the unit.
h. Assists with, and acts as a preceptor during new hire orientations. Assists with their follow- up evaluations.

Educational Responsibilities:
Maintains own professional growth.
a. Assumes responsibility for own learning and development needs.
b. Establishes a professional rapport with other hospital personnel, patients, and with the public.
c. Demonstrates competency in emergency procedures such as CPR and other procedures. Meets requirements for unit specific competencies.
d. Attends in-services and keeps abreast of current developments in nursing, medicine, and allied professions.
c. Delegates duties of maintaining the patient care unit to other health team members during each shift.
d. Makes suggestions to the Head Nurse for improving the unit.
Management and Communication:
Interacts effectively with patients, family and team members to maintain standards of professional care to patients, families and visitors.
a. Demonstrates sensitivity to cultural and religious beliefs through a caring, respectful attitude, presentation and delivery.
b. Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills using recognized medical terminology.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE
BSc/BSN from a Recognized Facility
Current Professional Nurse Registration in Country of Origin
Valid Registration from Saudi Council for Health Specialities
