PURPOSE
The job of procurement Officer involves sourcing and purchasing goods and services for the company according to its available budget for each department. Close control of purchasing budgets, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring delivery schedules are met and preparing ongoing reports for company executives are all part of the job. Planning, organizing, financial, budgeting and decision-making skills are all essential requirements, as are leadership and communications abilities. Strong market awareness, attention to detail and problem-solving are also necessary attributes
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Researching for new suppliers & Review the new vendors to qualify according to the co. PQ standards
Ø Following market trends
Ø Liaising with suppliers
Ø Negotiating prices with suppliers
Ø Following up with suppliers concerning delivery times
Ø Preparing reports
Ø Reporting to Senior Managers and Executives
• Managing and controlling all the company’s external suppliers with particular emphasis on the purchase of Materials and finished parts for production.
• Ensure parts and materials are bought at the most competitive price and delivered on time for production.
• Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers (probably turnkey including design) who are aligned to the company's needs.
• Identify new suppliers, agree terms and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate, including discount structures and volume rebates.
• Foster close working relationships with associated departments eg. Sales, Engineering and Production, Business Development.
• Continually improve purchasing methods and drive down external spends.
• To carry out a comprehensive review of the Purchasing function and its methodology and identify and implement improvements. Production Efficiencies
• Material Costs - stringent material control is required to assure company targets are met. The includes spend, usage, scrap, inventory levels etc New Products / Product Developments
