The area manager is responsible for the operational functions of the company in his area .He will have the overall responsibility of the company which includes; stores, staff, delivering company's growth, maximizing sales and profitability, maintaining and increasing standards of customer service, conducting training and development of staff, conducting inventory, taking strict measurements for loss prevention . The responsibility of an Area manager is very wide and requires a lot of skills. He is the trouble shooter of the company in his area.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Pro-actively contributes to implementation of the retail established strategy to achieve the company's objectives. Develop effective network of communication across the Area to ensure shared knowledge and understanding of business activity .Identify, prioritize and pursue new business opportunities in liaison with operations manager.
• Clearly and concisely communicate business and area objectives to store managers so that they remain well informed of business activity and of their required contribution to the target.
• Monitors closely attendance of store managers and staff in his area and ensures that all stores adhere to compliance requirements in all areas of operational activity, company's policies and procedures.
• Monitors closely cash handling in all shops.
• Coordinate with MIS / Operations manager and store managers for quarterly stock-takes, supervises inventory to ensure full adherence to stock-take procedures, and assist store managers for checking and reconciling inventory result. Conduct random snap checks and take responsibility for loss prevention.
• Participate in staff recruitment and design induction programs for new hired staff and monitor their performance and ongoing business needs.
• Ensures protection of company’s assets and resources by meticulously enforcing the company’s policies and procedures in his area.
• Liaise with operations manager/ contractors to plan and perform all maintenance works required for the shops.
• Liaise with VM manager, VM's and store managers to maintain brands image and company high presentation standards at all times.
• Conduct regular performance appraisals for all store managers in his area.
• Create a positive work environment that results in stable retention and reduction of staff turnover.
• Support the delivery of all marketing campaigns and support management of customer service activities and staff competence so as to optimize and sustain sales performance and customer satisfaction. And undertakes any other duties as assigned by the operations manager.
